Founder

Jim Parker founded Bloom rTMS, Bloom Psychedelic Therapy and Research Centre, and the Parker Psychedelic Research Chair at the University of Calgary after witnessing firsthand the profound healing power of psychedelic therapy in a close family member.

For Jim, Bloom represents a bridge between science and access - a way to make safe, evidence-based psychedelic-assisted and rTMS therapies more widely available. Through ongoing research collaborations with the scientific community, Jim aims to help advance public and institutional understanding of these treatments, supporting their recognition by governments, insurers, and society at large.

Before his work in mental health innovation, Jim built a successful career in energy trading. He earned a Master’s in Applied Economics from the University of Victoria (1992) and began his career as an analyst and natural gas trader at TransCanada before joining BP, where he served as Head of Natural Gas Trading. After retiring from BP in 2009 to focus on family, Jim later returned to the field by founding his own firm, Kayak Capital Management, in 2012.

Dr. Chowdhury’s expertise in neurostimulation has shaped his career, including his roles as Medical Director of the rTMS Clinic at the Mood Disorders Association of British Columbia and as a lead physician in the Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) program at a major tertiary hospital in Vancouver. He is also actively involved in psychedelic-assisted therapy and clinical research, reflecting his ongoing commitment to advancing innovative treatments in mental health.

With a strong belief in treating the mind and body as one, Dr. Qazi is dedicated to advancing evidence-based approaches that promote long-term mental wellness and improve overall quality of life for his patients and community.

Physician & Marketing Director

As a Family Physician and Marketing Director at Bloom rTMS, Brandon is passionate about finding innovative solutions to problems in neurology and mental health. This drive stems from his B.Comm. degree in Marketing, where he refined his approach to finding innovative solutions to unmet client needs.

As a testament to his innovative spirit, Brandon was awarded the 2020 Joule Innovation Grant in the Emerging Physician Innovator category by the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) for his work on prevention of concussions in sport caused by whiplash. He has also published research in the field of low-frequency magnetic stimulation for treatment of various mental health and neurological disorders.
